Romina Storino
What started as a hobby changed Romina’s life forever. 10 years ago curiosity led her to Luis Zors, her first Filete mentor. Further studies with Claudia Berlusconi, and master Jose Espinosa set her on the path to becoming a fileteadora and advocate of this art technique. Romina is a founding member of the Asociacion de Fileteadores (Filete Association) which had a significant role in the 2015 inscription of the Filete Porteño in UNESCO’s Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity. She wants to see more Filete Porteño in the streets and is proud that, even as cultural trends tend to become standardized due to globalization, the Filete Porteño remains a vibrant, independent art form.
As a 2008 graduate of Universidad de Buenos Aires (UBA) Romina has worked in multiple graphic design agencies. Today Romina is an independent artist and graphic designer. She mixes modern and traditional aesthetics allowing her Filete training to influence her graphic design work and vice versa to create her own unique style. Romina has participated in dozens of exhibitions including the first Filete Porteño exhibition in Beijing and Shanghai, China. Her work can be seen in the Buenos Aires offices of Google and Amazon, and many shop windows all around the city.
